Annetta North is one of three towns born from the historic Annetta community, which was founded around 1880 by A. B. Fraser and named for his daughter Anneta — a name he coined while building railway bridges in Honduras, combining "Annie" with the Spanish "-ita" for "little."
For nearly a century the Annetta area east of Weatherford was a single rural community of churches, farms and a railroad shipping point. As the Metroplex pushed west and residents wanted local control, the community formally divided.
Annetta North incorporated in the mid-1980s with about 281 residents, choosing self-government to preserve its rural, low-density character against the surrounding suburban growth.
Today Annetta North remains a small town of affluent residential acreage and horse properties just east of Aledo, with students attending the A-rated Aledo ISD.
