The Story of Walsh
Walsh is Parker County's newest community built on some of its oldest land. For generations the 7,200 acres west of Fort Worth were the working cattle ranch of the prominent F. Howard Walsh family — and not just any ranch. By the 1950s Walsh Ranch was one of the premier Charolais cattle operations in the country and home to the largest Charbray herd in North America.
The vision to turn that ranch into a town is decades old: the master plan was approved by the city of Fort Worth around 2000. The 2008 financial crisis stalled the project, but in the mid-2010s the Walsh family partnered with Republic Property Group and the community finally began to rise.
Walsh was designed to be different — more than 2,300 of its acres are set aside as green space, woven together by some 23 miles of hiking and biking trails, with fiber internet and shared maker spaces built in from the start.
At full build-out the master-planned community is projected to hold well over 18,000 homes and 50,000-plus residents. It is not an incorporated city, but its students anchor the growth of A-rated Aledo ISD.
