Parker County Commissioners allocate $4 million from Rainy Day Fund for tornado disaster recovery

On May 4, the Parker County Commissioners Court voted to allocate $4 million from the county's fund balance — its 'Rainy Day Fund' — for immediate disaster recovery, formally upholding County Judge Pat Deen's Local Disaster Declaration issued after the late-April storms. The allocation represents approximately 12.5% of the remaining fund balance. The primary use is removal of construction debris (collapsed structures, damaged roofing materials) — state disaster programs do not fund construction-debris removal on private property, so the county is filling that gap. Judge Pat Deen: 'When the state could not step up in this specific area, the Parker County Commissioners Court led the way... Our priority is our residents.'
