Storm-damaged? Property owners can apply for a temporary disaster tax exemption — deadline Aug. 10

Property owners whose homes, businesses, or other improvements sustained significant damage in the April 2026 severe storms may qualify for a Temporary Disaster Damage Exemption through the Parker County Appraisal District, the City of Springtown announced June 9. Authorized under Texas Tax Code Section 11.35, the exemption gives a partial, temporary reduction in the taxable value of damaged improvements; the amount scales with the extent of damage. To qualify, a property must be in the designated disaster area and have at least 15% damage to improvements, documented with evidence such as insurance adjuster reports, contractor estimates, engineering assessments, or photographs. Applications (Comptroller Form 50-312) must be received by Aug. 10, 2026, and go directly to PCAD at disaster@parkercad.org.
