The Springtown City Council, meeting June 25, deferred Planning & Zoning Commission applicant interviews and appointments to its July meeting to allow more time to recruit applicants, then adopted a compromise structure for a future Zoning Board of Adjustment that will be separate from the council but initially drawn from current P&Z commissioners, the city said. Council also approved a roughly 22-acre replat tied to the Crystal Clean expansion south of Scroggins Road, authorized staff to begin contract talks with the top-ranked firm for new lot-grading and drainage-plan review services, and approved a resolution to bury a Semiquincentennial time capsule at the July 4 Star-Spangled Bash, sealed until 2076. Parker County Commissioner Larry Walden and other representatives gave an informational-only presentation on a proposed regional Public Utility Agency for long-term water planning, and the council discussed neighbor drainage disputes without changing any ordinance, opting to seek City Attorney guidance and consider resident education materials instead.
