The City of Springtown is launching its inaugural First Responder Youth Camp, a week-long program July 13–18 for ages 13–18 that introduces local teens to careers in public safety, emergency services and disaster response. Campers earn CPR and First Aid certifications, train on incident command fundamentals and emergency communications, and finish with a multi-agency capstone disaster exercise on Saturday, July 18. Participating agencies include Parker County Emergency Management, Parker County ESD No. 1, Parker County Hospital District EMS, Springtown Police, Springtown Dispatch, the Springtown Animal Shelter, Springtown Public Works, the Parker County Radio Club and TEXSAR Search and Rescue. The camp is free, limited to 20 students, with priority for Springtown residents; applications are open online, and parents can contact Amy Hedges at ahedges@cityofspringtown.com.
