Weatherford City Council adopts electric-utility franchise and two Tower Street rezonings in June 23 ordinance slate

The Weatherford City Council adopted four ordinances at its June 23, 2026 meeting, according to the city's published ordinance notice. Ordinance O2026-19 grants Tri-County Electric Cooperative the right to operate an electric utility in the areas of Weatherford it is entitled to serve, including the use of city streets, alleys and other rights-of-way, in exchange for a franchise fee paid to the city in lieu of other charges. Ordinance O2026-21 rezones roughly 0.226 acres at 114 S. Tower St. from C1 general commercial to R1 one-family residential, and O2026-22 rezones about 0.459 acres at 202 S. Tower St. the same way. The council also adopted O2026-20, adding a conditional use permit for hotel/motel use on a 0.517-acre tract at 117 College Ave. in the Central Business District (previously reported).
