The Weatherford City Council has unanimously moved ahead with a request for proposals for the sale and redevelopment of two vacant city-owned historic buildings downtown — Old City Hall at 119 Palo Pinto St. and the property at 221 N. Main St. — emerging from executive session to authorize the listings. Old City Hall had housed the city's Parks and Recreation and Planning staff until those offices relocated to a building at 117 W. Columbia that the city obtained in a property swap with Parker County, leaving Old City Hall vacant. The 221 N. Main building was most recently leased by Edgewise Eight Brewing and has been undergoing restoration since the company moved out; the city originally acquired it while pursuing a downtown traffic loop. City Manager James Hotopp said leaving vacant historic buildings in the public's hands with no use 'is not the best use of those buildings,' and that the goal is to find someone interested in redeveloping the properties while preserving their historic character. The listings will be advertised online and distributed to realtor groups, open to anyone interested. Source: Weatherford Democrat (Sally Sexton) · Published 2026-06-11
