Data-center developer Black Mountain is exploring Parker County
Black Mountain, a Fort Worth-based energy group already developing a $10 billion data center in Fort Worth, is considering Parker County as the site for another data center.
📍 Where
Land near Azle Highway and Pearson Ranch Road, about 7 miles northeast of downtown Weatherford, in unincorporated Parker County.
📋 What we know
- A Black Mountain entity purchased 2,000+ acres in 2025. The Parker County Appraisal District assesses the land at more than $57 million; the purchase price was not disclosed.
- Fort Worth Power Core LLC — which shares CEO Rhett Bennett with Black Mountain — received TCEQ approval in April 2025 to operate five natural-gas turbines at 501 Pearson Ranch Road, described as backup/bridge power for a data center. TCEQ says the permit remains active.
- Weatherford declined to bring the property into its city limits, and in January 2026 the city chose not to amend zoning to allow data centers after residents raised concerns. The city says data centers remain prohibited within Weatherford.
- Because the site sits in unincorporated Parker County, county-level and state (TCEQ) processes apply rather than City of Weatherford zoning.
- Fort Worth Power Core LLC also holds air-emissions permits in Tarrant, Jack, and Somervell counties.
🗳️ What you can do
- Follow the Parker County Commissioners Court agendas (the court meets the 2nd and 4th Mondays) for any related rezoning, plat, or tax-abatement items.
- Track and submit public comment on TCEQ air-quality permits through TCEQ's public-notice and comment channels.
